The German duo URSULA has released several tapes and a split LP since 2019…now the band is releasing the album „4“ solo on vinyl for the first time…and where else should it be released than by YOUNG & COLD RECORDS?

With their sound between catchy NDW (German New Wave around 1981/82) and Minimal Synth, URSULA have quickly made a good name for themselves among Minimal-fans and have now also started performing live. With „4“ and upcoming performances, the duo will certainly quickly reach a wider audience and bring their danceable electronic sound to the clubs.

This is immediately confirmed by the two openers „Irgendwann“ and „Das Signal“, which immediately make your foot twitch. It reminds of the early German tape scene of the 80s, when „children’s room“-musicians implemented their idea of Pop Music with the simplest technical an musical equipment. It also reminds you of the ZE422-project from the 2000s, which unfortunately remained relatively unknown. Things get mor new-wavy with “In Meiner Stadt”, which, like “Die Belastung”, brings back some memories of Graphik Magazin. “Harmonie” could be described as Casio-Pop, “Mindset” is pure Minimal-Synth-sound, “Mit Dem Auto” is slightly electro-punky and things get wavy again with “Die KI”, which also takes up a current topic.

From the descriptions it is clear that “4” sounds like it was made from a single piece and will delight NDW fans of groups like Profil, Stahlnetz, Zaza or Recht Herzlich, as well as people who love current acts like Kühle Matrosen, Tilly Electronics or Gen Null.
